Thermal Expansion of a Laminated Composite Shell with Thermal Contact, Interface

Application ID: 90771

This example uses the thermalexpansionofalaminatedcompositeshell model to demonstrate the use of the feature Thermal Contact, Interface, applied on interfaces between layers in a laminated composite shell. The first study is computed neglecting this additional thermal resistance in the heat transfer model. Then, in a second study, a thermal contact resistance due to an air gap with a thickness about 1/10 of the layer thickness is taken in account. Results show moderate differences between the two approaches, the maximum values for temperature and stress fields are increased in the second study.
