Thermomechanical Fatigue of Electronics Products - Archived
Electronic components are part of everyday life, found inside mobile devices, computers, TVs, and so on. They are susceptible to damage during transport (such as falling and hitting the ground) or when in operation (such as excess heating), which needs to be considered when working to extend the life of the electronic device. Just turning a device on and off can lead to a thermal cyclic loading, which can cause part of the electronic device to fail due to fatigue.
Thermomechanical models are useful for providing important data on how excess heating or impact will affect an electronic component. The COMSOL Multiphysics® software includes functionality for analyzing this type of multiphysics problem, which we will demonstrate in this 18-minute webinar.
