Modeling Busbars and Cables in COMSOL Multiphysics®

Duration: 41:51

Cable modeling is important for a wide range of applications in the power & energy industry, but it can also be a challenging and computationally demanding area of study. In this video, you will learn how to perform cable analyses using the intuitive features in COMSOL Multiphysics® and the AC/DC Module.

We begin with a simplified model of a busbar for any new users of COMSOL Multiphysics® who may be watching, as it is a good example for getting acquainted with the software. Then, we demonstrate how to include capacitive, inductive, and thermal effects in a 2D cable model. Lastly, we go over how to model cables with twisted periodicity in 3D.

Next step: Check out the 8-part cable tutorial series.
