Acoustics in Electronics Part 1: Loudspeakers

Duration: 52:42

In Part 1 of an archived series, see how the COMSOL Multiphysics® software offers functionality for modeling all aspects of loudspeaker design, from motor development to beamforming analysis and the integration of speaker setups within room acoustics.

We discuss how simulation and virtual prototyping support every step of the process, including motor and driver design, waveguide and cabinet design, transducer response in true listening spaces, and final optimization. You’ll also get a demonstration of how to set up a complete electro-vibroacoustics model using built-in multiphysics couplings and connect a lumped speaker representation to a finite element model for system-level analysis. We will also explore nonlinear effects, coupling with frequency-domain analysis, time-domain analysis, and ray tracing.
