Vector coordinates for polarization reference direction

I am tracing rays through a prism and I want to be able to call a set of variables (for the x-, y-, and z-components) that yield the polarization reference unit vector for any point along the ray. Something like the 'u' vector defined for the initial polarization reference direction, only one that evolves with reflections.
