how to define initial stress in a thin film

Hi,

I would like to simulate a pre-stressed thin film on a substrate to see the bowing of the substrate. The substrate is considered stress free. The thin film has compressive stress. I would like to get some help on how to define such initial stress in COMSOL.

My COMSOL is 4.2.

Thanks a bunch in advance,

Rong

Hi

the way I use is via thermal differential contraction, there is a nice example in the model library. I do not really know how to correctly define the stress tensor without letting COMSOL solve a realistic manufacturing case

But someone out there might have a good/better idea ;)

Good luck
