Running parametric studies in COMSOL Multiphysics is easy, even if the parametrized property is a model's geometry. Using the built-in moving mesh feature, which is based on the Arbitrary Langrangian-Eulerian (ALE) technique, a geometric object can be shifted by moving the system mesh.
In this example, a plate has a heat source that is cooled through its outside boundaries and also through a constant temperature set at the boundaries of an internal circle. This could, for example, represent a cooling flow through a pipe going into the plane of the model.
The parametric study investigates the temperature profile at different placements of the hole. The mesh for each solution can also be seen as well as the deformation that occurs to the mesh through the ALE technique. |
