The IR CO2 laser powered chemical conversions in the gas phase are intriguing and the researchers’ attention was focused on this transformation a while ago. The method, known as Infrared Laser Powered Homogeneous Pyrolysis, or IR LPHP opened reaction pathways not reached by conventional ... Per saperne di più
Anticipation of meteorological events such as ice forming is a key challenge to optimise the use of antifreeze on airport runways. To obtain a predictive numerical tool of ice forming on the runways, Groupe ADP and SIMTEC developed a COMSOL Multiphysics® model, in which several physical ... Per saperne di più
Renewable energies generate temporary mismatches between energy demand and supply. The conversion of surplus energy to hydrogen and its storage in geological formations is one option to balance this energy gap. Storage in deep saline aquifers is the most cost-effective option for ... Per saperne di più
Mass transport modelling through porous media is typically characterized by complex physics and geometry. In the particular case of radionuclide transport, modelling for radioactive waste repositories, an additional level of complexity, and thus uncertainty, originates from the long time ... Geologic carbon storage that involves injecting carbon dioxide (CO2) into a subsurface sequestration site provides the vital approach for reducing CO2 emissions into atmosphere and thus addressing climate change issue. One challenge associated with CO2 geologic storage is that pore ... Per saperne di più
Mechanical simulation at one pair of asperity contact has been conducted using the COMSOL Multiphysics® software and the Structural Mechanics Module to study the sliding friction of rock fractures surface as real fracture surface contact slides driven by pressure solution. The evolving ... Per saperne di più
The erosion of the interior of soil pipes is an important process in the fields of geomechanics and geomorphology. Soil pipes can form in water holding structures like dams and levees, and water flow through these structures becomes concentrated into the soil pipes as they evolve by the ... Per saperne di più
To reveal key features of the thermal pattern at different structural levels of the Norwegian continental shelf and the adjacent mainland, the lithosphere-scale 3D structural models have been used to represent a structure of the sedimentary cover, underlying crystalline crust, and ... Investigating the unusual neotectonic activity in northern Norway provides a number of challenges since both far-field and near-field stresses need to be considered. The far-field background stress strongly controls the overall stress regime. The regional stress field stems from the ... Per saperne di più
Per saperne di più
