Darcian and non-Darcian porous media are characterized by the porosity of medium. To capture miscible viscous fingering in both types of porous media, a new model built with COMSOL® software is presented by coupling of two different physics interfaces (hydrodynamics and transport of solute). For modeling in non-Darcian porous media, Brinkman equation is used. In our simulations, perturbations are inserted by triangular mesh only. Darcian porous media results are in good match with the linear stability as well as nonlinear simulation existing in the literature. Similarities and differences between the Darcy’s law and Brinkman equation results are discussed.
