Hi!
I am analysing stresses and displacements of simple 2D steel plate with Comsol 4.2. I need to get results calculated by triangle linear plane stress elements for comparison.

How can I change element type to linear? Comsol seems to use quadratic elements by default?

Hi

yes COMSOL uses 2nd order (mostly) elements, this is under "Discretization" tab of your main physics node, but it appears only if you turn the extra view mode on: check your "options parameters" and turn discretization view "on" (there are several others there to once you start to understand the details to COMSOL, I run with all on ;)
but it makes your screen full of tabs you do not always need to access

Good luck
