Modeling Free Vibration of a doubly-clamped beam with initial stress

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello all,

I am interested to simulate the eignefrequency analysis of a doubly clamped beam which is under a certain initial stress due to fabrication.

Can anybody help me to define the initial stress tensor parameters in terms of x,y,z elements and sign accurately?

Thanks,
Nilufar

Hi

To write out thefull stress tensor is very tricky (at least I find so) the easiest is to reconstruct the stress how it appears, there is at least one model in the model library of a two layer plate being prestressed by differential themal exansion mimiking the manufacturing process. This then, via a stationary or combined statonary analysis can give you the initial stress for the eigenfrequency analysis

Good luck
