Problems with importing Solidworks Parts to COMSOL

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello All, I am trying to import a 3-D sketch part into COMSOL v. 5.2a but COMSOL says that the file is not compatible. My only option is to import as a mesh file. So, if anyone else has had this problem, could you please help me with either the correct format to import geometry (I have tried just about every Solidworks extension) OR how to "solidify" an imported mesh file into COMSOL. Please and Thank you.

Hello Tiara,

COMSOL can import many formats that SolidWorks can produce, but you need to make sure your license includes one of the CAD import-related products, i.e. the CAD Import Module, the Design Module, or one of the LiveLink for CAD products. See https://www.comsol.com/products/specifications/cad/ for more detail. Importing a mesh is a poor alternative for many reasons.

Best,

Jeff
