In this live webinar, Dr. Dheeraj Pratap, an assistant professor in the Optics and Photonics Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), will speak about the photothermal effects of gold nanorod aggregates and their potential applications in biomedical therapies.

Dr. Pratap will discuss how the behavior of gold nanoparticles changes when they form clusters and how these changes influence light absorption, optical properties, and heat generation. He will also explain the differences between ordered and random nanoparticle aggregates and their impact on resonance behavior and heating performance.

The talk will highlight how the optical response of nanoparticle clusters can be tuned into the infrared therapeutic window for biomedical applications. Through numerical and experimental studies, Dr. Pratap will demonstrate the heating effects of gold nanoparticle clusters in different environments and discuss how the COMSOL Multiphysics® software can be used to model light absorption and heat generation in these systems.

The webinar will conclude with insights into optimizing nanoparticle-based photothermal treatments.
