FEM Modeling of an Industrial Scale Electrolysis Cell

In this paper, shell elements are used to reduce the complexity of a geometry in the modeling of an industrial scale copper electrolysis cell.

The proposed model is described by multipysical since it takes into account interaction between electrical conduction and temperature.

The model accuracy is estimated by comparing the simulation results to actual measurements.
