Development of New Blade Profile for Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

Vertical axis wind turbine has low rotation performance compared with that of horizontal axis wind turbine. This study proposes a new blade shape for vertical axis wind turbine effective for wide range of wind speed. Results obtained from a numerical COMSOL simulation and wind tunnel experiments show the proposed new blade profile has higher performance as compared with conventional blade profile.
