Meshing of a thin plate

I have a very thin block of 5μm x 5mm between two rollers of 40mm length. For meshing I have specified a normal and a free tetrahedral with maximum and minimum of 2μm and 1μm, but the meshing process takes hours to perform.
My question is if there is a way to reduce the meshing of the block in length axis while maintaining a good result?
