Packed bed reactor

Hi,

I am doing a project on packed bed reactors and I referred to the packed bed reactor model in the chemical engineering module of the model library of COMSOL Multiphysics 3.5a. Equation 8-160 gives the mass balance for each species for the catalyst particle. Equation 8-161 is produced by scaling equation 8-160 with the particle radius rp. I tried deriving the later equation from the former, but couldn't succeed. Can anyone please help me with it?

Also later in particle model, extrusion variables are used for flux at the particle surface. Can anyone explain why the flux is multiplied by r/rp?

Attached is the COMSOL Multiphysics documentation for the model.

Thanks
