When changing the license file on the license server, COMSOL Multiphysics loses contact to the license server

Problem Description

When the license file hosted by the license manager is changed, my running COMSOL Multiphysics session loses the connection to the license manager and does not reconnect again.

Solution

This issue will be fixed in COMSOL Multiphysics 5.5 update 2.

In this Knowledge Base entry, you will find a fix that can be applied to COMSOL Multiphysics 5.5 update 1 and COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 update 4. Please note that this fix should to be applied on the computers running COMSOL Multiphysics and not the license server computer.

COMSOL Multiphysics 5.5

• Make sure that you are running COMSOL Multiphysics 5.5 update 1. To do this, start a COMSOL Multiphysics session and look at the top of the Messages window. It should state: COMSOL Multiphysics 5.5.0.306

• Close all active COMSOL Multiphysics sessions.

• Download the zip archive for your version of COMSOL and operating system: 55u1win.zip for Windows, 55u1mac.zip for macOS, and 55u1_lnx.zip for Linux.

• Unpack the contents of the zip archive directly into your COMSOL Multiphysics installation directory. When asked if you wish to replace a file, choose to do so.

COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4

• Make sure that you are running COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 update 4. To do this, start a COMSOL Multiphysics session and look at the top of the Messages window. It should state: COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4.0.388

• Close all active COMSOL Multiphysics sessions.

• Download the zip archive for your version of COMSOL and operating system: 54u4win.zip for Windows, 54u4mac.zip for macOS, and 54u4_lnx.zip for Linux.

• Unpack the contents of the zip archive directly into your COMSOL Multiphysics installation directory. When asked if you wish to replace a file, choose to do so.
