Two-Phase Level Set - Curious droplet disappearance and unusual velocity field

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi COMSOL community,

I am trying to simulate a water droplet entering a chamber filled with oil. I am using the two-phase level set function and am trying first to simulate the model in 2D before I move on to 3D. But interesting things are happening. I set the inlet pressure at 70 kiloPascals, and the outlet pressure at 0, and the velocity field of the computed simulation indicates that the velocity of the fluid is centered toward the middle of the water droplet, and not across the plane as intended. I am also having problems with a disappearing water droplet. Reading through old forums I've noticed that this is a common problem with the level set function. Setting the water droplet density to 10 times the oil density seems to help things somewhat, but the physical settings are now illogical and the problem isn't solved.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
