Layers out of shell

I'm trying to model 3D shell structure, then analyse it the effects of manufacturing. I'm using MatLab to create the geometry which is only planes that represent the structure. Then out the the plane structure i need to create shell elements that will represent the layers. In other words

-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^ element with thickness that represent the deposition of material 1
-------------------- element with thickness that represent the structure from the Matlab plane geomentry with material 2
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* element with thickness that represent the deposition of material 3

I don't know if I'm beeing clear with what's bothering me here, but I hope you have some advice for me :) !

Thank you
