Heat exchanger as object in pipe flow module

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Dear Comsolers!

I am currently trying to model a real pipe system using the pipe flow module - energy central with heat pumps generating heat, distributing heat through a pipe distribution network and delivering the heat to the end customer through heat exchangers.
In this pipe circuit heat is transferred from one place (heat pump -> condenser side) through the water in the pipes and released at an heat exchanger another place in the circuit.
My challenge is that the amount of energy released at/through this plate heat exchanger is (among other parameters) dependent on the water velocity and temperature difference between the two sides of this heat exchanger (hence not a fixed value as in Heat Source object).

May the object Heat Source (pos or neg) combined with a formula instead of a fixed value do this? or is this how the linear heat source works?

Does anyone know if it is a way of modeling this using the pipe flow module in comsol? All hints, suggestions or answers are appreciated :-)

Kind regards,

Morten
