RAM Memory usage, Comsol 4.2a, RF module

Dear All,

I have one question, maybe some of you have experience with that.

Where I can find information about relation between number of degrees of freedom (DOF) and RAM memory I need for that number.

So, to simplify, how much RAM memory I need (approximately of course) for simulation where I have 800 000 DOF, 900 000 DOF, 1000 000 DOF, maybe 1300 000 DOF is maximum.

Is 16GB RAM memory enough or not?


I have i7 processor, 4 cores.

Hi,

I recently had a 1.7 million DOF model that took approx. 50 GB using a direct solver. Iterative solvers take less. 16 GB will problably not take you to 1 M DOF.
