Phononic Bandgap Mismatch and Incorrect Modes

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I've run into an issue with my phononic bandgap calculation that I was hoping someone may be able to help with. I have been trying to reproduce the results from a paper, https://opg.optica.org/oe/fulltext.cfm?uri=oe-19-6-5658&id=210757 , but have run into an odd issue. My phononic bandgap matches well until the frequency range 2.7-3.1GHz. In this region I get mechanical modes like the one in the attached picture. I don't think this mode should exist because it would cause a shift in the lattice every period. Does anyone know how to fix this or why it is happening?

Best, Christer
